Refreshing

God Gold of the day

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭103:1-8‬ ‭

What’s going going on God Gold community!!! I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed ya this past week!! I’m literally screaming this in my head as I write it I’m so excited!!!! I felt like a piece of me was missing being away from the Gold that long but thankfully, as you’ve already seen, my buddy Dillon knocked the God Gold of the Day’s out of the park while I was gone!!! It was awesome to take a step back and hear the Gold God placed on his heart and I know y’all would agree!!! Don’t worry, Dillon will be back soon with some more life-giving Gold before long but today it’s good to be back!

So it’s been a week that has been so many different words but if I could put one word to it, it’s “refreshing.”

Got married to the woman of my dreams who is much more beautiful on the inside and outside than I could ever deserve! I got to spend time with family and friends, talk about old times, seeing and hearing all that God has done from “then” to “now.” And I got to spend a few days laid out on the beach with new permanent lady friend! So yeah, refreshing to say the least.

It has been a mountain top experience for sure in my life and I can’t tell you how thankful I am for each moment of it and each person who was apart of it! Sitting on the beach and spending a lot of time resting, literally doing nothing. It gave me a lot of time to reflect on it all. These past couple of weeks, these past couple of years, all my years and the years still to come. I sat there thinking about it all and I was jaw dropped, just couldn’t believe it all. How could all this good be brought into my life with me being far from good in so many ways?

How did I get here? That was the main question. Looking back, retracing my steps in my broken years and each step with God since it’s easy to see through it all. God was at work. Looking out at the ocean in front of me I watched the waves crash in then fizzle out, then more waves would come in. I watched schools of dolphins swimming by, birds flying over and diving down for their daily dose of seafood. I watched some of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen with the most beautiful girl I’ve ever laid eyes on.

I could go on and on at all I saw but after reading these verses it was obvious that God did it. This same God that I have a personal relationship to, who’s love is steadfast and faithfulness so constant. This same God, perfectly and so creatively designed all of this beauty around me. He so creatively designed me, my wife Sarah, and so wildly and awesomely worked things together from year one in my life all the way to year 24 to land me in this moment. It blows my mind to think about.

In those moments of reflection, I definitely learned a valuable lesson about being still before God. Not being busy, not being anyone the world tells me to be or doing anything but just being still. It led me to think about how a God who can create this whole world around us, who’s creation is so perfect, who He Himself is so perfect. This God loves me and you even though we are so imperfect. Just read these verses one more time; “and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

“Bless the Lord!” Be still before Him and don’t ever forget who He is, and all of how He feels about you, all He has done for you!!! His awesome forgiveness when you mess up and your imperfection shows. His healing over addictions and pains in your life. Who lifts you up higher than birds or planes when you are sitting at the bottom of the lowest, nastiest, worst pit possible in your life. He constantly, brings His steadfast love to your life, not just love but mercy! He satisfies and fills you with good every day, all over your life! In others around you, in situations, in His Word, in so many unique and awesome ways His love shines through and His goodness fills us like NOTHING else can!!!

Even thinking back to so many moments of my life that I’ve always seen as regretful, moments that hurt and I wish I could change! Even in those moments I could see God pouring out His love and goodness on me. Not giving me this job or that one so I’d be led to the job designed for me. Going through a lot of tough and painful stuff that made no sense, He was taking my old ways apart and making me new in His image! Even in what I thought was “bad” in my life God was working His righteousness and justice for my weak and lowly state!

So now when I read; “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.”

Thank God!!! Bless God, oh my soul!!!! In His undeserving grace, His unrelenting mercy and His always increasing constant love!!! Thank you Lord for being so good and bringing nothing but good to our lives.

Refreshing isn’t it?!?! Just sit back and do some reflection, on the past, the present and future, look to see all God has done! Look at all of God’s goodness around you and really stop a second to take it in. Stop and just BE STILL! I tell you all that because it’s so refreshing to do, God has brought new life to me through it and He’s always there to refresh you too! Take some time with this awesome God and be refreshed by His creation, His work in your life, and His Word!!! It’s like drinking a ice cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day!!! WOOOO-WEEEE that’s good stuff!!!! REFRESHING!!!!
