Armored Up-P.2

God Gold of the Day

‘Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. ‘

Ephesians 6:10-13

Main Point: Know where you stand with God and you’ll see how to

The ARMOR continues!!!! Really excited to keep digging into these messages with you and learning together on how to answer the BIG question; “what does it look like to put on the armor of God?”

After seeing first that, trying to put on our armor and trust in our strength, it will never work, we will always fall to the schemes of the evil one going out of what we got. So realizing the simple truth, “I don’t have what it takes,” that opens us up to see that we are in great NEED for armor, great NEED for a Savior, who’s strength is far greater than our own. What’s even more awesome about realizing the truth of what we don’t have, God gives us His armor, God gives us His strength!!!! How awesome is that!!!!

I started digging into this question and the more I went down in the mines of God’s Word, the more Gold God brought out! I first asked the question, what is the armor of God??? My first thought, like any of us when we hear “armor” was like physical armor. Armor such as that you would see on a Gladiator, like Captain America with his shield and helmet, or like a police officer wearing their bullet proof vest. All of these types of armor does the same job as the armor of God, it protects, but God isn’t talking about the physical armor that we first start thinking about. God means something much different than the armor we refer to.

So what is God’s armor, I learned after doing some digging and seeing that each piece of armor was the belt of TRUTH, breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS, shield of FAITH, helmet of SALVATION, all these pieces of armor are qualities of God. The armor of God is God’s character, it’s who God is, it’s how He feels about us, it’s just God. So to put on the armor of God is simply KNOWING WHO GOD IS!!!! Standing firm in your belief of who God is and your identity in Him as a child of God, where He calls you accepted, worthy, free, and forgiven!!!

After seeing the armor of God is basically God’s character and who He is, to put on the armor of God is to dig into learning more about God, investing your life to understand and know Him more deeply. What’s cool is God gives us so many ways to know more about Him, He’s given us His Word, where we can see His heart on each page, we can see how He feels about us, all He has done for us, how He shows us the way to live the fullest life in His presence! We go to God in prayer, seek Him in our struggles when we don’t know what to do or when we are getting attacked by the enemy, and then watching God work in our lives, so faithfully guiding us and delivering us through our circumstances. And really just living with God, experiencing God daily in your own life and through the lives of others. Growing together with one another in our understanding of who God is and how we stand with God. Digging into our relationship with God changes our view of God and faith in Him in amazing ways, armoring us up for the battles ahead!

It’s so simple now that we see that the armor of God is the character of God, the more we grow in knowing who He is and our identity in Him, we can stand firm in Him, in His strength and His armor instead of trying to use our own armor or any armor this world offers! I pray these truths help you as much as they have been helping me! I’m even more excited to share with you the way God used an visual example of this in a pretty well known Old Testament story that I’m jacked to share with you in the days to come!!! The devil is going to keep coming but I’m excited to learn how we can stand firm in God’s armor to defend any attack he throws our way!!!
