“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
This verse hit me like a ton of bricks today cause faith is something I overlook. You’re probably thinking, a Christian overlooking faith, how’s that possible? Well it’s possible and I’m sure I’m not the only one who does this. When someone is saved and comes to know Christ as their Lord and Savior, they’re sometimes called “believers” cause they believe that Christ exists, that He walked this earth, died on the cross for our sins, and was resurrected on the third day. From that first moment of belief, our faith life begins and our goal in life is to please God by the way we live. Not pleasing God to try and earn His love, we’ll never earn it, but living to please God because He loves us despite our weak, sinful selves, He brought salvation to our life and victory when without it, we’d be lost in this dark world and victims to sin and death. That’s why our aim in life is to please God because He created us and gave us life here and now, and forever! As much as I want to please God, it’s hard sometimes because Satan is still there throwing distractions and detours in our path to slow us down and get us away from the truth. This is when faith sure does come in handy. And not just faith as in “yeah I believe God exists.” I’m talking about true faith and belief that God is in full control of our situation no matter how bad it is, He gives us confidence and strength to constantly strive to please Him and live a life that brings Him glory. Faith that no matter how tough it gets I know God will carry me through it, I know He is faithful to fulfill His promises, I believe that God can lift me out of the deepest darkest pits, faith in a God who loves us and wants nothing more than to see us living out the fullness of life He has planned for us. For me, I needed to move from I believe God is real to I believe God is with me in this moment, helping me claim the victory that Jesus has won for us over anything Satan throws our way. When temptations have came or those obstacles in my path, having faith in Who God is and what He’s capable of changes everything. Instead of just asking God for help, you start telling God thank you because you already know the outcome. It’s hard to get yourself out of the way, knowing you can’t please God with what you got but being a believer, believing that you don’t have what it takes, only God can equip us to walk in the victory He has given us. It’s easy to overlook faith until you seek God and His will and receive more than enough to handle any storms that come up in life, that’s when you realize what it means to be a BELIEVER! Without faith it’s impossible to please God and live in the fullness of His love and victory!
