This message of God Gold that you read today is from one of my very good friends, Brandon Payne. As Brandon mentions, awhile back I asked him if he was interested in writing a God Gold. In the moment, I just asked, I honestly felt pushed by the Holy Spirit to ask and it just happened. After you read this you’ll see, God works in the craziest yet most simple ways in our lives. What I thought was a simple question to a friend, God had so much more in store! I wish I could say more about how awesome this is but I don’t want to spoil it for you!! I just wanted you to have that precursor before you read the Gold God has placed on Brandon’s heart, God can begin this amazing work bringing us into the new life He has for us in any of our lives! It’s when we least expect it that God does the unthinkable and most awesome things, so I encourage you to listen in today and take hold of this truth God has spoken through my buddy Brandon!!!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.”
⁃ 2 Corinthians 5:17
As the new year approaches, we find others and ourselves thinking about what resolutions we will have to better ourselves for the upcoming year. Now these come about for many reasons, but I think most of it stems from a desire to have a fresh start. To leave behind something you may find undesirable about yourself, to be…better. And while there’s nothing wrong with this, I think we should push ourselves to do and be better, most times these resolutions come in the form on something tangible. Such as, going to the gym to get a better body, saving more money to see your bank account grow. This year, I am committing to myself to be better internally with my walk with Christ. To learn, talk, read, pray, and do more. To not settle in regards to my faith and continue to push myself to be better. Part of that challenge started with doing this. After a conversation about life with Jordan (we tend to have a lot of those) he asked me to write a God Gold, and i agreed. My first thought was that I was surprised Jordan was trusting me of all people with this task. To me, I am the last person that comes to mind and the least likely to have an encouraging word to say when it came to other peoples relationship with God. After some initial hesitation and panic that I wouldn’t have the right words to say to other people, I decided not to talk to other people. But rather, speak about myself and let God do the rest. So thats what this is, in 2020, like this verse in 2 Corinthians says, I am going to live in Christ. Let old things (2019, habits, choices, etc.) pass away and pursue, move towards and let new things come. Happy New Year everyone!
And if you haven’t already, say a thanks to Jordan when you get the chance for putting these God Golds together. Their not easy to do and I know firsthand how much work he puts into these and how much he cares about what and who he’s putting these messages out for. Love ya brotha!
